Everything ya wanna know about an epidural steroid injection :) I'd heard horror stories and was scared to do it.This looks much worse than it is. I had my first of this type injection today. At first I was a bit lightheaded, but they kept me there until I felt all better, then I got real sleepy. Don't know if sleepy had anything to do with it, but I haven't been sleeping well, sleepy happens now and then! Anyway, my neurosurgeon numbed my neck first with a shot of something, then did the epidural. Now tonight, I have pain on the wrong side (haha I always have been ass-backwards!) at the injection sight, and it hasn't helped any on the injury side, but I was told it can take between 2-7 days to work and another injection will be needed in 2-3 weeks. My next one, is scheduled for the 18th of August.
The week before my shoulder surgery, I had 4 Facet joint injections in my lumbar spine. They didn't start working rif=ght away either, but all of a sudden, my back had no pain at all until just recently, and they said it held well.
