Yes. "Some babies poop after every feeding and some every three days. It's all normal," says pediatrician Tanya Remer Altmann, editor of The Wonder Years: Helping Your Baby and Young Child Successfully Negotiate the Major Developmental Milestones. ...
Pooping after every feeding is especially common in breastfeeding newborns, says Altmann. When a breastfed baby has a bowel movement after nearly every feeding during the first few weeks, it's a good sign – it means he's getting plenty of milk.
Formula-fed babies often have bowel movements less frequently than breastfed babies. But it's normal for them to poop after every feeding as well.
The frequency of bowel movements can slow down between 3 and 6 weeks, but Altmann says some babies continue the pattern of pooping after every feeding. "Some 1-year-olds still poop five times a day," she says.
Generally, if your baby's bowel movements are fairly consistent and he's acting like his usual self, frequent poops aren't a cause for concern. However, if there's a sudden change in your baby's pooping pattern and his stool becomes watery, check with his doctor. Very watery bowel movements might mean an infection (or even constipation). vogue chic garments for prom
Babies who have frequent bowel movements can be more prone to diaper rash. You may want to coat his bottom with a barrier cream as a precaution, says Altmann. If his bottom isn't red, it's okay to use petroleum jelly, but use a diaper cream with zinc oxide if there's redness.
You may also want to let him go without a diaper for a little while each day to let his bottom dry fully. If nothing helps the rash get better, give your baby's doctor a call.
